The All Natural Face Powder Foundations!

The all natural face cosmetics company is prodominately a mineral makeup company. They sell non-toxic cosmetics, hair care, skincare, some beard care for the men, and also products for healthy teeth.
Here is a message from the “about us” section from their website!

“Our mission is to provide you with the best mineral cosmetics possible. We do not use any artificial ingredients. No bismuth, no talc, no carmine, no silk powder, no d & c lake colors and no parabens! Just pure and simple ingredients from the earth.”

So I have inserted some swatches below. The left side shows the swatches in sunlight and the right side shows them indoors.

These powder foundations have been compared to the Bare Minerals powder foundations. But since I’ve never really tried Bare Minerals, I can’t give my opinion on comparison. However, I truly enjoy wearing these powders. They are super light feeling, non-cakey, they blend very well, and provide up to  medium coverage. I wouldn’t go too heavy heanded otherwise it might start making you look a bit dry and cakey.

My skin color usually matched anything that was “classic ivory” at the drugstores but I find that Light Beige Warm and Medium Beige Warm are pretty good matches in this powder. I always apply a mist of water or rose water setting spray to help it sink into my skin.

I bought the sample pack from their website. The sample pack was in the light to medium range and cost me about $5 before shipping. They came in small card sized ziploc bags and provide quite a range of choices to try. If you’re in the market for a cruelty free, better for your skin, powder foundation, these are worth the try. 🙂

Sincerely, Kris

Nice, right? Below I have inserted swatches of the powder blushes I received in some samples that I ordered.

They can be used wet or dry. I swatched them dry with a small eyeshadow brush. These are much more intense when wet.

The sample set I bought was called “Try All The Blushes.” It was $5 before shipping and the samples came in playing card sized ziploc bags.

Not only do these blend really nicely; I  enjoy the variety of blushes they offer. It seems like there would be a color for everyone! These can be used as shadows, contour powders, and some can even be put on the lips. But always check the website to make sure.

Update: The website FINALLY put up swatches of some blushes but they definetely swatched them wet or over some kind of fixative because the pigmentation is insane. Ya’ll should check it out!

Sincerely, Kris

Alba Botanica Terra Tints and Gloss Review

Hey ya’ll! I’m finally getting around to posting something that doesn’t pertain to Burts Bees. Lol Anyways, I purchased all these at my local HEB. They were $4 for the tints and I believe $6 for the gloss. These were the only colors my store offered.

) 014

The Terra tints come in a plain twist balm tube with a cap that matches the color of the product. They contain SPF 15 which is nice. The colors don’t really “wow” me and the consistency of the terra tints is actually dry. They have a peppermint scent and provide a tingling sensation. The color Blaze leaves a slight stain. I can only wear these in the summer after I’ve prepped my lips with moisturizer. These will cling to any dry patches and can become streaky. I don’t really recommend packing this on either. They are so dry, it might just exaggerate any patchiness.

) 015

(Left to Right) Bloom (gloss), Bloom (tint), and Blaze (tint)

The Terra gloss comes in a regular squeeze tube with an angled tip for application. It is a warm pink with a little bit of shimmer.Just like the tints, it pocesses a peppermint scent that provides a tingling sensation. Despite how I feel about the tints, I really like this stuff. The consistency kind of reminds me of the Lancome Juicy Tubes I used to use a LONG time ago. It is not only smooth but it has some staying power.

So, I’m not very impressed with the tints but the gloss is definetely nice.:)
I hope this review is helpful and have a great day! Kris

Burts Bees Lipstick

Finally! Burt’s Bees has made a lipstick. I picked these up at Ulta for about $9 each. Of course, the nude shades were picked through by the time I found them so, I picked up the next best colors. The colors I chose were Lily Lake and Sunset Cruise.

The packaging feels sturdy; it’s cute with the honeycomb design and the exposed color of the product underneath. However, I’m not crazy about this square shape. It makes the product awkward to hold and not very travel friendly.

Lily Lake is a cool toned purple/pink color and Sunset Cruise is a warm toned coral color.

The consistency of these is like a dryer version of their tinted lip balms. They are somewhat pigmented, creamy, moisturizing, and apply evenly. There is a scent. It’s fruity and sweet but not overwhelming. They leave a light stain after the lipstick has worn off, which is about an hour and a half without eating. Although these are nice, I still prefer the consistency and pigmentation of the lip crayons. But these are a nice addition to my Burt’s Bees collection 🙂

I hope this review was helpful and have a great day! Kris

Burts Bees Lip Shimmers

) 017

I bought these for around $5 each. I have found them at Walmart, Target and Ulta. They come in a slender tube about the width of a pencil. They have a strong peppermint scent and provide a little “tingling” sensation on my lips. These have a slighly thicker consistenecy in comparison to the tinted lip balms. These apply evenly, they’re creamy, and lightweight.

) 016

Left to right: Grapefruit, Guava, Strawberry, Apricot, Cherry, Peony, Plum

*Disclaimer: One thing that deserves mentioning is that these will not roll back down. So if you adjust them to get more product you may not be able to get the product to recede back into the tube. So only move it a little at a time. But other than that I have nothing but love for these!

These shimmers are my favorite summer lip colors, because they are so easy to use and travel friendly. I spend alot of time at the lake during the summer and won’t wear a stitch of makeup swimming…except for these.:) I enjoy all these colors but I reach for Apricot the most.
I hope this review was helpful and have a great day! Kris

Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balms Review

Hi again, here is yet another Burts Bees Review. It’s likely there will be more. 🙂 Over the past few months I have been accumulating these at Target, they were $7 each. They are very travel friendly and small enough to fit in my pants pocket. They come in standard lip balm packaging with the adjustable bottom.

l 005

Swatched Top to Bottom: Sweet Violet,Hibiscus, Zinnia,Blush Orchid, Caramel Dasiy and Forest Flower.

They don’t have an offensive scent but it leans towards something sweet. They are creamy and lightweight. They are not very pigmented, they provide a sheer wash of color, and keep my lips moisturized during these winter days.

  • Disclaimer: It should come as no surprise but these are sensitive to heat. I accidentally left blush orchid in the car and it melted. 🙂 Yes, I am a genius.

I hope this review is helpful and have a great day! Kris

Burts Bees Lip Crayons Review

I’ve been a fan of Burt’s Bees for a few years now. Burt’s Bees is easily accessible in my town and probably the closest thing I can get to “all natural” makeup in a store.

I picked these up at my local Ulta for about $9 each. They come in six colors which are: Sedona Sands, Carolina Coast, Niagara Overlook, Hawaiian Smolder, Napa Vineyard, and Redwood Forest. My favorite colors are Sedona Sands and Carolina Coast. The other colors are beautiful but they just don’t suit me.

They are travel friendly and fit easily in my purse. Which as you can see explains the disheveled look of these crayons.

These are quite versatile; you can apply a light wash of color or really pack it on heavy. The consistency is smooth and creamy. There is not an offensive scent but what I do smell what appears to be a plain makeup smell. The packaging is really cute. I love the honeycomb design on the lid and the fact that these don’t need to be sharpened. They also have the “leaping bunny” seal of approval which is always a good thing.

I hope you found this review helpful and have a great day! Kris
